City's Homelessness Dashboard Begins New Data Update Timeframe
Published in: Denver News
The City’s homelessness dashboard is changing its update cadence from daily to once per week. Updates will take place on Mondays, and if a Monday lands on a city holiday, the dashboard will be updated the following business day.
To maintain transparency and to track the hundreds of people moving indoors at the end of 2023, the public dashboard was updated daily. Since Jan. 1, dashboard activity has become less frequent with an average of 27 people per week moving indoors. The dashboard changes in activity are due to the success of the House1000 initiative where more than 1,100 people were brought indoors and the largest encampments in Denver were closed to future camping.
City outreach teams will continue supporting people experiencing homelessness and tracking the data as it becomes available.
Mayor Johnston and his administration will continue helping those experiencing homelessness in our city by:
- Continuing to support those brought indoors on their transition to permanent housing and stability
- Focusing on bringing an additional 1,000 people indoors in 2024
- Expanding hotel and micro-community options
- Improving access to low-barrier shelter options
- Broadening the geographical footprint of encampment resolution activities
- Adding 3,000 affordable housing units and improving affordable housing infrastructure
